Conditional conjunctions

Remember that conjunctions are phrases that help us join two clauses or ideas. In the case of conditional conjunctions there is a conditional clause (what has to happen/happened/will happen) and a result (which only happens/happened/will happen if the condition is fulfilled).

Conditional conjuctions can be used in the place of if/if not; however, you must be careful not to change the intended meaning.
Exercise:� Rewrite each sentence using the given conditional conjunction. Make any necessary changes to say the same thing. Pay attention to punctuation!
1. If you don't eat well, you will get sick. (so long as)
2. I will give you a raise if you work two extra hours�a day. (on the condition that)
3. She said she would not go to the party if you don't apologize. (provided)
4. The economy will go down if people don't pay their loans on time. (unless)
5. We agreed to play in the concert if the profits go to charity. (only if)
