Word Order: Subject,verb,object

A. Look at the examples below. Complete the sentences.

1. I enjoy music.
2. Philips is swimming.
3. She drank a bottle of water.

a. The doer of the action is .
  • So the subject in the above sentences are:
b. What happens is the or it is an action.
  • The verbs are , is swimming and
c. What does he enjoy? . So it is an object.
d. What did she drink? . So there is an object in the sentence.
e. Some sentences do not have an object. Like in sentence number

B. Now look at this example.

Peter gave Maria a flower.
Peter gave her a flower.

a. After some verbs ( bring, give ,send, make, leave, write) we can talk about a person
( Maria / her) and an object.

Identify the subject, verb and object.

Exercise 1: Look at the picture. Make a sentence using an appropriate verb and an object given below.
