Edmund Spenser - The weary yeare his race now having run (a New Year sonnet)
An exercise to practise the vocabulary from Edmund Spensers New Year sonnet. In the first exercise students must choose the synonym. The sonnet contains the words which are written according to the rules of spelling of the time when it was created. Students should guess how they are written today (it is rather easy). After that they should rewrite some sentences in modern English. And at last they listen to the poem and select the right variant. I think that they should learn it by heart at home because this poem could be used as wonderful congratulation on New Year.
