THIS IS HOW YOU REMIND ME - NICKELBACK
1. Put the lines into the correct order(always 1-4)while listening to the song and then the missing words(easy)
(1-4)
Tired of livin' like a blind man
I couldn't cut it as a poor man stealing
I'm sick inside without a sense of feeling
Never made it as a wise man
And this is how you remind me
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
(1-4)
I was waiting on a different story
It's not like you to say sorry
This time I'm mistaken
For handing you a heart worth breakin'
(1-4)
Scream "Are we having fun yet?"
Been to the bottom of every bottle
I've been wrong, I've been down
These five words in my head
Yet?, Yet?, Yet?, no no

It's not like you didn't know that
I said I you and I swear I still do
It must have been so bad
Cause living with me must have damn near you

This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
This is how you remind me
Of what I really am
....
2. Some follow-up exercises for EXPERTS [or at least advanced learners of English] -can mostly be usedas discussion questions in class or practicing song interpretation and improving creative writing skills-
A) Interpret the song, also explaining what the singer means by metaphors such as "living like a blind man", "been to the bottong of every bottle"etc. What do you think happened to him, that caused him to write this song? Who is this song addressed to?
What should an interpretation include?
Introduction: Facts about the song, like title, interpret etc. (you can google if you'd like)
Body/Main part: Going through the song (mostly line for line) clarifying what they are supposed to mean and giving evidence from the songtext itself. You can also include what you think happened and how the songwriter expresses that in the song. Also explain metaphors in the main part and other special occurences of style (rhyhmes etc.) which appear important to you. Include the questions asked above as well. (These also belong in the main part)
Ending: Mostly summarize the main findings of the main part in a nutshell. Some teachers also want you to include your own opinion (if you liked the song, why/why not? Which parts/aspects did you like while listening?)
B) As you know there are two sides to everything. Imagine you are the person whom the song refers to but you don't agree that the things which thesongwriter accuses you of are true. You don't feel guilty for what happened and want to clarify your point of view. Do this in form of a poem or a letter!
