Haiku poems are generally written to describe nature.
The most widely recognized form
consists of a three-line
stanza that has a total of
seventeen
syllables, written in the following pattern:

Notice how the words and phrases used in a haiku poem
do not rhyme.
Exercise: Complete the following haiku so that it has 5, 7, 5 syllables in each of the three lines. Remember: haikus should be about nature.
