Step 1. Preheat. 1)your oven to 375 degrees. Simple!

Step 2. Pie crust. In a large bowl, 2) flour, butter and salt. With your electric mixer on the lowest setting, begin to blend together the ingredients. Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of ice water and mix until the batter starts to thicken. Continue to 3) 6-8 tablespoons of ice water mixing thoroughly after each one, Until the batter becomes a thick dough. Remove the electric mixer and roll the moist dough into a ball.

Step 3. Roll it out. Place the dough on a cutting board coated with flour to keep it from sticking. 4)the dough into two halves. Roll the first half into a nine inch circle. This will be the bottom crust of the apple pie. Carefully roll the thin dough around the rolling pin and transfer it into the pie pan, being careful not to tear the dough. Using a sharp knife cut off any excess dough around the edges. Roll the second ball of dough into a 12 inch circle, repeating the process used in the first crust. This will go over the pie filling before baking.

Step 4. Pie filling. In a large mixing bowl, add 6 apples, cored and sliced. Add sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and lemon juice. 5) all ingredients together until every apple is coated. Pour the apple mixture into the pie pan and smooth it out evenly. Finish by topping the apples with butter. This will melt in the oven and help soften the filling.

Step 5. Cover and bake. Gently cover the pie filling with the second crust and pinch the two crusts together. Trim off the excess dough once again using a sharp knife around the circumference of the pie. Pinch the two crusts together tightly. You can use your fingers or a fork if you want your pie to have crimped edges. Make sure the pie is sealed around. Cut several one inch slits on the top of the pie for ventilation while baking in the oven. Place the pie on the center rack of the oven and 6) for 50 minutes to an hour or until the pie crust is a deep golden brown. Allow the pie to cool at least a half an hour before serving.

Step 6. Serve. Cut the pie into 6-8 slices. Its best when its still warm. Serve on a chilled plate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh fruit to accompany the sweet apple flavor.

Enjoy this classic dessert!
