PEDRO FIGARI
Uruguay is the home of many great painters. Pedro Figari is one of them. Son of the Italian Juan Figari de Lazar and
Paula Solari. He was born in Montevideo. on 29th July 1861. He studied law and was a very active politician.In 1921, he decided to start his career as a painter and moved to Buenos Aires with his son ,Carlos.Four years later, he moved to Paris and participated in group exhibitswith artists as Diego Rivera, Jules Supervielle and Joaquín Torres-García.The themes of his paintings are creole customs, colonial society and his memories of Candombe.He said about his paintings: ¨My painting is not simply a way of painting.It is a way of seeing, thinking and feeling¨.
At the beginning of 1934 he returned to Montevideo, and four years later, he died.He created over than 4000 paintings.
