The Wolf and the Crane
Read the story.
A greedy wolf was eating happily when suddenly, a bone stuck in his throat. Poor wolf! He could not get the bone up or down. Now he could not eat a thing.

So the wolf went to see the crane. He was sure that she would be able to pull the bone out of his throat easily with her long neck and bill. But the crane was uneasy about putting her head into the wolfs mouth, so she refused to help the wolf.

Then the wolf said, Miss Crane, if you help me, I will give you a big reward.

When the crane heard that, she was excited.

A big reward? she asked.

Its a promise, said the wolf.

The crane could not wait to see what the reward was, so she quickly did what the wolf asked. But when she had pulled out the bone, the wolf walked away.

What about my reward? the crane asked eagerly.

Didnt I give you one already? said the wolf. You should be happy that I did not snap off your head when you put it in my mouth."
